Precision Machining

The term Precision Machining covers a wide range of techniques and technologies used to remove material from a raw substance to make the desired piece. The most commonly used techniques for precision machining include turning, milling, drilling, cutting, boring, and more. Those techniques are much needed to get the finished workpiece and get the desired outcome. Precision Machining supports a range of different materials, including steel, aluminum, bronze, iron, and copper. However, some more materials such as wood, ceramics, plastic can also be machined.

Maple Machinery is well known for precision processing and can reach micron level precisions. Our team first evaluates the processing requirements and carries out internal control to achieve a stable size. A strict internal control system plus dimensional accuracy allows us to achieve higher stability and accuracy in our final products.

Machining Techniques

With the development of machining technology, there are many innovative machining methods. The following techniques are the most essential service in our machineshop:

1. Turning: turning is a technique in which the workpiece is rotated and the cutting tool removes material from the workpiece in a specific mode. Lathe is the most common turning equipment, which is used to machine internal and external cylindrical surface, end face, conical surface, thread, etc.
2. Milling: milling refers to the use of rotating multi blade cutting tool to cut workpieces, which is an efficient machining method. When milling, the tool rotates and the workpiece moves. Milling is suitable for machining plane, groove, gear, thread, etc.
3. Grinding: grinding is finish machining technology, with small machining amount, high precision and good surface finish. It uses high-speed rotating grinding wheel to machine workpiece surface. Grinding is used to machine the internal and external cylindrical surface, cone surface and plane of various workpieces.
4. Drilling: the hole on the workpiece is machined by the rotary cutting head contacting with the workpiece. The drilling accuracy is low and it’s rough machining.
5. Boring: refers to the further machining of holes that have been forged, cast or drilled. Boring can enlarge hole diameter, improve accuracy and reduce surface roughness.
6. Laser cutting: high power density laser beam is used to irradiate the material to be cut, so that the material is quickly heated to the vaporization temperature and evaporated to form holes. With the movement of the light beam on the material, the holes continuously form a very narrow (such as 0.1 mm) slit to complete the cutting of the material
7. Wire cutting: cutting metal by electric corrosion with molybdenum wire, especially for materials with high hardness or parts with complex shape.

In addition to the above-mentioned machining techniques, we also provide other diversified machining services according to the requirements of customers.

Internal control advantages of Maple Machinery

Maple machinery has rich experience in precision machining, and the tolerance can reach micron level precision. Generally, we will control the dimension more stric2tly than the customer’s drawing requirements, we will evaluate and internal control the actual production to achieve more stable dimension.

For instance, if a machining dimension is 35 ± 0.05mm, we will require it to reach 35 ± 0.02mm in actual production. It is this strict internal control system that makes us more stable than other factories in the dimensional accuracy of finishing. We insist on reducing the rate of defective products, saving a lot of time for customers and improving economic benefits.

Machining Equipment in Maple

Maple machinery has always regarded precision machining as a key part of one-stop manufacturing, which is important to ensure the dimensional accuracy of parts. Therefore, we are constantly updating our mahcining equipment, refining our machining technology, maintaining high competitiveness and high added value.

For now, our machineshop has the following machining equipment:

6 sets – machining centers
7 sets – CNC lathes
4 sets – CNC milling machines
2 sets – grinders
5 sets – drilling machines
1 sets – engraving machine
